Spring Mews, Vauxhall, London

Spring Mews involved the complete demolition of five separate buildings situated in a highly sensitive area of Vauxhall, London.

Acting as Principal Contractor, the works included soft-strip and asbestos removal followed by careful dismantling and demolition techniques utilising large and midi 360° excavators. Hand demolition was employed on structures abutting third party properties as well as the installation of Party Wall temporary works and weatherproofing.

Further works included the grubbing up of all hardstandings, slabs and foundations, removal of contaminated soils and extensive historic ground obstructions, crushing of arisings, and a reduce level dig. The site was completed by the laying of a piling mat and the construction of a temporary substation base along with associated ducting.

Through the salvage of many thousands of bricks and the crushing and reuse of all other site won hardcore, the works have focused on the client’s redevelopment target to achieve a BREEAM rating of Very Good.
