RAF Maidenhall

Working for the Ministry of Defence, this project demanded industrial demolition in a highly secure environment. The demolition and removal of six 14,000 gallon fuel tanks, a reinforced concrete road and masonry buildings, as well as pumping equipment and pipework was required. All tanks and pipes were purged and cleaned prior to removal from the site.

Works involved alterations to existing electrical installations and cables; All works carried out next to highly sensitive aircraft runway with particular attention being paid to the risk of loose material being drawn into Jet Engines.

As a result of contaminated ground concerns, the company carried out an extensive soils investigation. All contaminated soil and material was removed from site to prevent contamination of the underlying vulnerable aquifer.

The landscaping of the site involved clearing and re-levelling, and the grading and grassing of imported soil.

The measure of trust placed in the company is reflected by the fact that all work was undertaken in close proximity to a runway being used during the Balkan War. Particular attention also had to be paid to the environmental concerns – particularly the risk of loose material being drawn into jet engines.
