Concorde Test Building

Demolition and clearance of various large steel & concrete structures including the dismantling of the two largest post-tensioned beams ever to be demolished in the UK. The beams were post-tensioned to 4450 tonnes by 24 cables and presented a unique challenge which was successfully met by H Smith (Engineers) technical team.

In the final clearance stages, 3 large concrete crushers were used to maximise recycling of the arisings.

The demolition project was “written up” in several engineering journals including the “New Civil Engineer”.
